Act 1, Scene 1 – Cue sad, piano music...
This morning started out beautiful. The sun was shining over the neighbor’s house, the newspaper greeted me at the end of my driveway. Still on vacation, today was going to be great. I picked up the paper and the date confirmed what I was thinking about as I went to bed last night…Sept 5, 2012 is the first day of school. Our sweet, kind little boy was about to wake up and start his scholastic journey.
He was so excited to lay his clothes out the night before so they would be ready for him when he got out of bed. In the later years, this will surely be less about preparation and more about his MSP (Maximum Sleep Possible).
I was eager to be with him all morning as he woke up and started getting ready. After Tory let the hiding light into his room, he gently rubbed his eyes and only a parent could see the look of excitement for he knew this was a day like no other. After a couple stretches, he hopped into the shower…wanted to smell nice and clean for the ladies he no doubt will want to impress.
For the past year, he insists on getting dressed by himself (and does a pretty good job at it…assuming you are fine with Mario or Scooby Doo tops). Today, though, he was kind enough to let mommy dress him before he set out on his new adventure.
One more before walking into his class. He is such the little stud (and heart breaker).
We walk down the hall towards his classroom. I ask him if we wants to hold my hand (translated: I don’t want to let go). He looks up with those piercing blue eyes and says heroically, “No thanks.”
Congratulations son, you did it! Well, we should probably see how the rest of the day goes. If you are anything like me when I was in school, well…let’s not spoil the mood.
And to keep this blog PINTRESTing… one last picture from this morning…
