It’s funny (and a little concerning) how fast the year goes by. We all get caught up with work, school, sports and forget about taking time to live in the moment and look forward to those special occasions. Alas…December is here and time for another rendezvous with Santa! Over the years, many have asked, “why?” The tradition obviously started outside of my control. As my brother and I started to get a little older and wiser that we really didn’t need to wait hours at the mall to ask whoever was wearing the red coat that day what we wanted for Christmas, we wanted to put the kibosh on this so many times. However, my mom made the “rules” very clear and easy to understand. First, a picture with Santa is the only gift she wanted for Christmas. Second, my brother and I had to sit on his lap until one of us got married. It was then (and only then) we could either stop the annual Santa lap dance or introduce someone else to the tradition. That was great for the one who got married…the other poor sap (me) had to ride shotgun to Santa for 10 more years until I met the love of my life and let her play the game. So without anything further please enjoy all forty five years… KEEP CALM and SANTA ON!
